The first 3D Zebra (pedestrian) crossing in Abidjan Cote D'Ivoire

It is 28 of March and the temperature is 32 celcius degrees. We are in Abidjan in front of the International Community School of Abidjan and the students are rushing to finilize the painting of the last white block. Although it is hot and humid clouds are gathering obove us informing us that it may rain.

This is not something though that can discourouge the students. They are determined to finish the project that they spent so much time preparing it, not only in terms of the mathematical part but also from the practical application of it. To paint a 3d zebra crossing demands the knowledge of geometry, physics and color combination, meaning art and students prooved that they can master all these areas and produce an amazing result.

The Grade 1o students of ICSA, dispite all the difficulties, managed to finish the project, which by the way was very succesfull as you can see. I cannot be more happy seeing these faces taking pride of their accomplishment. A big bravo to everyone and hopefully we will continue with more projects in the future. Some information about the traffic accidents in Cote D'Ivoire follows :

  • On average, Côte d'Ivoire records more than 6,500 accidents each year, which cause more than 700 deaths and 13,000 injuries. According to official statistics, 94% of traffic accidents are due to drivers or users and 6% attributable to the poor condition of vehicles and the road network.
